Since my youth I have been a competitive chess player and avid chess fan. I’m currently near my peak rating, just above 2000, having achieved the “expert” status in recent years. A recent tournament highlight was beating an FM (FIDE master) who himself had beaten Peter Svidler back in the 90s.

Now my chess enjoyment comes mainly from reading game books, like Kasparov’s Chess Predecessors series and The Life and Games of Mikhail Tal, though I still play rated games when I can.

Here is a newspaper article that tells part of my chess story.
